Mission:
Providing world class educational experience to encourage a combination of learning, research, and collaboration by maintaining a curriculum which includes latest developments in mathematical sciences, hence motivating students and instructors to become analytical thinkers and to collaborate, contribute and provide excellence in research which will tend to serve the society, region and nation overall.
The research pursued in the Department of Mathematics includes a fairly wide spectrum of interests in both mathematics and statistics. Typically, each of the research areas below is pursued by the Department’s faculty.
The Department of Mathematics, Netaji Subhas University of Technology (formerly Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology) was established in December 2013. Earlier it was working under the School of Applied Sciences which was established in the year 1983. Currently, there are six faculty members who are working with various research programs viz. General Relativity and Cosmology, Astrophysics, Approximation Theory and Operator Theory, Fluid Mechanics, Bio Mechanics, Linear and Nonlinear Waves, Complex Analysis, etc. The Department of Mathematics has started an undergraduate course B. Tech. in Mathematics and Computing w. e. f. August 2019. Apart from these, the Department also offers Ph.D. program in various areas of Research as stated above under Teaching- cum-Research Fellowship (TRF) scheme. The Department has well-equipped Two Computational Mathematics Labs with some advanced Software and Internet facilities.
